The so-called clock tower Cardinalis Tower, French Heritage monument to Barcelonnette
The convent of Dominican or Preaching friars of Barcelonnette was founds in 1316, sumptibus of the cardinal Hugues de Saint-Expensive, native of the Moor, commune of Uvernet, deceased in 1263.
The tower of the clock was certainly high with the first church of the convent of Dominican, perhaps on the basis of older tower still.
Its angles and its arrow are the shapes of a similar tuff like origin and as cuts has that of the vault exhumee by the Castel excavations; but their construction does not go up so high and must be in any case posterior has 1378.
The chorus, to the north of the tower of the clock, was to come to the short-nap cloth from the western frontage from the tower. On the basis of and cash 25 bills of quantities for the length of the church of the east in the west, one sees that it occupied all the width of the current Manuel place.
