The Saunerie door, French Heritage monument to Manosque
note webmaster: the door on photo Black and white Ci below seems to be the door of Soubeyran, built at the 14th century (except the bell-tower which would go back to 1830). This door is the northern door of the historical centre of Manosque. It is registered historic building.
On the other hand the photograph of Light of the Morning proposed in illustration would be well the door of Saunerie, whose construction it is completed in 1382, of Romance style. It is also the southern door of the historical centre of manosque. The situation near the street Saunerie, where salt was conveyed and where the pigs were bled, according to the historians, could be related to the origin of its name (saunery - > to abatoir into of Provence).
The Saunerie Door presents a defensive architecture with two pole-axes and of the crowned side turrets of machicolation.
