the Viscount of Castelbon
Under this designation, one included/understood a stronghold of Catalonia, locates in the diocese of Urgel, downstream from this city, on the slope of the central Pyrenees, between Segre & Noguera-Paillaresa. Until the beginning of the thirteenth century, the country was control surface by lords raising in right of kings d' Aragon & independent in fact.
The history of this seigniory would not be likely to stop us a long time if, in 1202, an event whose consequence was to link, during nearly three centuries had not occurred & half, the destinies of the stronghold has those of the house of Foix. At that time, Ermessinde, girl of Arnaud, Viscount of Castelbon, married, has Tarascon-on-Ari?ge, Roger-Bernard, wire of Raymond-Roger, count de Foix; the son-in-law, in 1226, succeeded has his father-in-law, died without male posterity. By this acquisition, the counts de Foix gave career has their ambition; not being able to extend from the dimension of Languedoc, they tried to take foot in Catalonia. All in, the succession was not profit; the new lords were oblige to support the fight which their predecessors had engaged with the episcopal mitre of Urgel, in particular about the valley of Andorra.
In 1315 Gaston I died, count de Foix, wire of Roger-Bernard III, who, in consequence of the heritage of the house of Moncade, had of the chief of his wife, in France, obtained Bearn &, in Catalonia, the seigniories of Moncade & Castelvieil. He left two wire: Gaston II, has who it yielded the goods locate on the French slope of the Pyrenees, & Roger-Bernard whom it instituted Viscount of Castelbon with all the grounds of Catalonia.

Tarascon-on-Ari?ge, 1425 inhabitants (Tarasconnais) old, industrial and commercial city, in amphitheatre on Ari?ge, downstream from the confluence of Oriege or Orlu and Ari?ge. Feudal doors of the XIV E XV E century; marble and stone bridge; on the avenue of the bridge, fountain whose column carries the statue of Samaritaine; bell-tower of the XV E century, an old church.
