Corse

History

The Corse-du-Sud was formee by division of Corsica on January 1, 1976, pursuant to the law of May 15, 1975. Its limits correspond has those of the old department of Liamone, which existed of 1793 has 1811.

The Haute-Corse was formee by division of Corsica on January 1, 1976, pursuant to the law of May 15, 1975. Its limits correspond has those of the old department of Golo, which existed of 1793 has 1811.

Geography

The Corse-du-Sud east formee of the southernmost part of the island of Corsica. It is bordering on the department of the Haute-Corse to the North-East, baignee by the Mediterranean in the west and the Tyrrhenian Sea in south-east, and contiguous in Sardinia in the south.

The Haute-Corse extends on the North-eastern part of the island of Corsica. This area is appelee Cismonte or Di-Qua. The central mountainous edge (orientee NO-SE), known as I Monti, it separated from the department of the Corse-du-Sud (Pumonte area). The Haute-Corse east baignee in the east by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the west by the Mediterranean.
