Castle of Jovelle, French Heritage monument to La tour blanche
Ruins of Jovelle castle on a rocky promontory at 144 metres, approximately 1 km from the village of la Tour-Blanche. Of this castle there is a fortified Châtelet square corner tower, retaining a few remains of machicolations to triple console, as well as slits-filled gunboats, a House including the Western Wall has machicolations and a circular corner tower. The West Wing of the corps de logis was very reworked over the centuries. The South Wing, today in ruins, still shows wall chimneys and a corridor below serving the House of defence of the castle chapel, equipped with several gunboats slits. This last, overlooking the site of Jovelle, is vaulted a cradle broken and equipped with a Gothic axial array at the bedside. its roof is protected by de la lauze. The ramparts of the Castle almost disappeared. Tradition has it that during the hundred years war, the Black Prince has lived a few days in the castle of Jovelle. Charles VII there would have established his headquarters for a few months. Probably built in the 14th century, the castle still has a House very retouched in the 17th. It remains, outside this logis, a fortified entry Châtelet and the castle chapel. The Castle belonged to the Jovelle Dejean, in the La Croix and at the de Galard-Bearn.
