The Priory of Longpont tithe barn, French Heritage monument to Longpont sur orge
The building forms a quadrangle, 47, 30 m long on 19, 90 m wide. The pinion is on the Park, is pierced by two eye-de-boeuf and has three foothills covered with tiles, while west gable is in the extension of the body perpendicular to the grange farm. The drawing of the tiles reveals a cross in the centre of the Northern pan of the roof. The interior layout consists of a central nave and two aisles. The width of the nave is 9 m, that of the aisles of 4, 5 m. nave and aisles are delimited by two rows of 10 pillars each, 12 stone, square pillars, and 8 poles of oak on stone bases. The barn is a vestige of the Cluniac Priory of Longpont with adjacent farm body. The low height of the walls, large dimensions, the plan (a nave with low sides) and the square stone pillars that separate them, to date the 14th or 15th centuries. It originally covered two-thirds of the current surface, the 700 square meters corresponding to the area enclosed by the 12 pillars of stone. The original West Gable, which was located off Lormoy Street as shown in a plan of 1764, had to be demolished to enlarge the barn in the second half of the 18th century
