Château Raoul or Castle Beaufils, French Heritage monument to Lormont
Located in the edge of the lormontais plateau and away from major roads, the Castle extended its hillside gardens. Noticeably plan, 1 square and 1 stage of climax, the House presented its main elevation to the Garonne. a long corps de logis 7 span facade dominated by a narrow central Pavilion 1 span was flanked at each end of a transverse Pavilion 3-span facade. The side elevations had 4 bays on the front. Dormer Windows lighted the height
* the large skylights to 2 Windows extended side elevations. A covered gazebo with a small roof to the Imperial exhaussait a level the central Pavilion. Slate roofs were decorated with ridges and spikes of Ridge cut. The whole was covered with an abundant ornamental sculpture consisting of bosses, balusters and pediments. The construction of this House combined facades inspired by 18th century roofs influenced by the 17th century, synthesizing the different aspirations that guided the construction of country lormontaises in the middle of the 19th century houses. Various sources and old maps indicate the Raoul parliamentary House, the 'the Rouquet tenement' or the 'great Mr Dufaure de La Jarte bourdieu' that a text of the 17th century described as ' a House speaker vines with gardens enclosed by thick bushes, enclosed courtyard walls and offices that are covered, went to a railing as a platform prevailing along the top of a cliff and down made into folds with small Spurs notched in the Rock leading to a cellar sitting on a dock '. The plans represent the remains in the 18th century: the buildings form a courtyard open to the East. Gardens extend to the Garonne. A design from the beginning of the 19th century shows high walls and a tower
* We know that a chapel had been Assistant. As of many country houses in territory lormontais, the House was entirely rebuilt in the middle of the 19th century, taking the name of Castle Beaufils but the chapel was demolished and the garden quickly disfigured by the introduction of the railroad. The House and surrounding careers were destroyed in the middle of the 20th century by the activity of a nearby cement factory (studied).
