Castle of the Lords of the canal, currently says Town Hall, French Heritage monument to Briare

The East Wing houses a chapel of plan oval and decorated with panelling. The West Wing is served by a staircase at ramp of wrought iron from the 18th century. Around 1650, the Compagnie des Seigneurs of the channel buys a castle built at the beginning of the 17th century (1610-1620) to Briare. The building is transformed by the ambitious count of Buron, Director-general of the Briare canal between 1730 and 1742. The left wing was demolished and rebuilt. A chapel is located in the main body. On the ground floor of the main building body is a fireplace in marble dating from 1730-1740. The Castle houses the Town Hall of Briare since 1867, following the takeover of the canal by the State in 1860.
