Church parish Saint-Sernin, French Heritage monument to Villeneuve sur lot

Arrow slate. Semicircular apse. The Church Saint-Sernin, impeding the expansion of the Eysses prison, was demolished in 1822: it is rebuilt a few hundred metres to the East, on a Latin cross plan, presumably by an architect villeneuvois, Illac or de la Salle. Major works are carried out between 1839 and 1847, likely including the construction of the Bell Tower. In 1867, the building became inadequate: it was decided to open the walls of the nave on newly built aisles, which extend the chapels open to the West. It is redesigned in 1906, and increased sacristies behind the choir and the Bell Tower.
