Commercy

Commercy, chief town of district, with a college and 4,000 inhabitants, are small and pretty situee city on left bank of the Meuse, in a delicious landscape. One notices there his old castle, which belonged to the family of Gondi, and which the cardinal of Retz sold to the dukes of Lorraine; Stanislas made a splendid residence of it; it is a barracks of cavalry today.
