Plant, remains only a part of wrought overgrown workshops. They consist of a two-level brick building and a workshop whose upper part consists of a glass frame. The former tannery-corroierie in 11 Grand'Rue results from the association of two families already present in this activity maroilles cheese. Indeed, at the beginning of the 1860s, Desire and Michael Gosseaux (or Gilbert) are building a tannery-corroierie that uses the hydraulic network and a well in the garden of their house 96 Grand'Rue. In 1863, as a result of remediation, the tannery receives an order. On the other hand, Mailliard family is present at Maroilles in the activities of the leather in 1880 Jean-Baptiste Mailliard, 'Tanner', is buried in the cemetery of the village. The two families join in 1894 to found the corroierie tannery Mailliard son and Nadine, claiming as the successor of the firm Mailliard and Gosseaux. It is built at the entrance of the village of maroilles cheese, near the minor Helpe. It also includes today destroyed buildings bordering the Court existing at the site of the former Abbey. The tannery is specialized in the manufacture of leathers. It went bankrupt in 1908 but resumed its activity in 1909 under the name of Manufacture of leather of the Sambre, becoming a subsidiary of the Tanneries and Lorraine Corroieries (former Hotel Bhatia and company) of Tin in the Meuse. Its president was Louis Lehmann, already owner of the tanneries in Sireuil (Charente). It consists of a vernisserie, a hydroelectric power plant located in the former Abbey mill. Is then created a mechanical plant which manufactures machines tanner and Javier on a national scale. It sells models developed in England (label Aulson). In 1910, it employs about 100 people. Leather processing machines are looted and destroyed by the German occupiers during World War II. In 1921, the factory gets permission to move the site of the former Abbey in compensation for suffered destruction.
