Ancien prieuré Sainte-Gauburge

Holy Gauburge or Walburge

In 1034, Yves, count de Belleme, who, the following year, went up on the episcopal seat of Seez, gave to the abbey of the Holy Father of Chartres, in the person of his abbot Landri, the prioress or field of Holy-Gauburge Coudre, close to Wedding, now common of Saint-Cyr-the-Rosiere, diocese of Seez. Guillaume, his father, had gives it previously has a monk of Bonneval, names Beringer. But Beringer, abbot crown, not being able to support the frequent shock of the wars and the poverty of the place, known as Cartulaire of the Holy Father, was, of full sound liking, turns over has its monastery. Holy-Gauburge thus, during some time, the title of abbey had; but it is probable that it had one abbot, Beringer. Mabillon (Bened Annals., T. IV, p. 396) has supposes that this Beringer was not abbot of Holy-Gauburge, but of Bonneval. Nobody saw that in this circumstance, this famous Benedictin was horn: because the files of the abbey of Bonneval do not mention any abbot of this name. Beringer, according to Necrologe of the Holy Father of Chartres, died on December 21; but the year of sound of these is not nowhere mentionnee.

Grand Titus says of the history of this building :
