Collège Sainte-Barbe, French Heritage monument to Paris 5eme arrondissement

The college Sainte Barbe, secular private institution, is one of the few survivors of the medieval colleges. Removed during the Revolution, he found his fame in the 19th century. This institution originally consisted of a large and medium colleges, built by Labrouste in 1841, and complemented by a preparatory school. The two colleges formed two quadrilaterals wedged behind the site of the new Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève. They were demolished in the 1960s. Were preserved that preparatory school buildings built in 1884 by Lheureux. The facades of the present college of eclectic style, combining in a scholarly research the millstone, stone and brick.
