Skittles in the Air, French Heritage monument to Equihen plage
House of sinner built starting from boats during the XIX E and the beginning of the XX E century. It seems to remain one specimen of this type of dwelling (see photo joel.herbez).
Description and history
These dwellings of sinners were consisted of a boat retournee. The most stripped families area, thus recovered the displaced boats in order to constitute a tax haven. The interior of the skittles in the air was composes that of a part has to live covering the totality of the boat. One cooked there on a stove which ensured also the heating, one took the meals, slept and sometimes same prepared the lines when time was bad inside the home. The openings was very few and small it always made sinks in the skittles in the air.
The hulls were laid out has blank of hill on the heights dominating the sea. Passed with the tar to guarantee the sealing of this roof, they appeared by far similar to the moulds which paper the rocks of the beach. The second world war and the bombardments associate causerent the disappearance of the skittles in the air which then constituted a true district with a good score of unit.
For a few years, in echo of this old tradition, the common one has taken the party of the remettres to the last style by building several skittles in the air on the municipal camp-site, dotees of all comfort seeks. Proposed with the hiring at the night, the weekend or the week, they make the happiness of the tourists by offering a unspoilable view on the dimension!

Maison de pêcheur : à l'origine bateau de pêche aux harengs pouvant contenir douze hommes d'équipage, ayant servi un an vers 1937, converti en maison qui faisait partie du quartier des quilles en l'air.
Il s'agit de l'unique exemplaire daté de cette époque. (Première photo dont la date figure sur la cheminée)
Il est à noter que la commune d'EQUIHEN-PLAGE a fait un effort important pour redonner vie à se patrimoine, en reconstruisant depuis plusieurs années de nouvelles "Quille en l'Air" dans le terrain de camping municipal, qui sont des Locations appréciées des vacanciers. (Photos suivantes)
