Manor House called Etchaux Castle, French Heritage monument to St etienne de baigorry

The building has a rectangular plan with two towers of circular angle (Northeast and Northwest) and two watchtowers (Southeast and Southwest), as well as a rise in authorised three-span two-storey square. The walls were built in the middle of limestone and sandstone covered with coating unit. Elevation earlier North lies the main gate to chamfered amounts where one can read the inscription 'IHS MARIE 1555'. The corps de logis is covered by a flag of flat tile roof, towers and bartizans of polygonal roof with rolled up sewers, which are based on a panel carved heads. A recent tile shed is joined to the West elevation. Inside, there are the remains of a medieval underground room (elevation is), a staircase of distribution, turning in masonry in the corps de logis (16th century), as well as a staircase in masonry in the turret. One of the pieces also keeps a nosing Corbels chamfered 16th century fireplace. Some timber beams under the peak date of the 12th and 16th centuries. During the recent restorations, the building received a modern furniture. Of medieval origin (some remains are still visible), the Etchaux domain then belongs to the Viscounts of Baïgorry. The current building is surely built at the request of Gratian of Etchaux around 1555 (date range). The Etchaux family has its apogee under Henri IV and Louis XIII. In 1752, the domain passes to the family of Cartwright of AMU. It was at this time that it instead of building new facilities. The famous family of Abbadie of Arrast owned this castle. Over the following centuries, the building, repeatedly sold, is abandoned, before being restored in the course of the 4th quarter of the 20th century by the new owners.
