Canal bridge on the Loire to Digoin

The pontcysyllte aqueduct Digoin allows the side channel to the Loire to cross the Loire to join the canal du Centre. The book contains 11 arches of 16 metres of opening and measure total 243 meters (between the ends of the parapets). The 6 meter wide Bowl has only one boat channel. Finally, the work is entrusted to the Jullien, age only 29-year-old engineer and placed under the responsibility of the vigorous Chief Engineer. It offers a model identical to the le Guétin Canal near Nevers (1828-1837), which it also follows the work. The pontcysyllte aqueduct Digoin is made from 1833 to 1838. In 1896, the book underwent a few transformations in the context of the Freycinet plan improvements (1879) and in 1904 the engineers have installed electric lighting along the aqueduct.
